That’s one of the favorite hypothetical questions of minimalist bloggers, don’t you find? What, amongst your hundreds or even thousands of possessions, would you actually save in a fire? Well, when two policemen pounded on our door at 4.30 am on Tuesday and told us to immediately evacuate our home all I could manage was to put on my coat and boots, grab The Poodle under my arm, and get the fuck out of there. It wasn’t our building that was on fire but one of the neighboring ones, but seeing as we live in one of the oldest areas of town where several hundred-plus-year-old wooden buildings stand wall-to-wall they weren’t taking any chances. By 5 in the morning more than 70 people were standing outside on the street, watching the fire and wondering whether we would have a home to return to by evening. I hadn’t even managed to grab my phone on the way out.
My wildly unrealistic wish list
A few weeks ago, when I asked for post idea suggestions on Instagram, my sister suggested that I should make an “if I were a filthy rich person” wish list. I liked the idea as I usually don’t spend much time on sites like net-a-porter and the like at all, so I thought I could give it a go. So, in the words of the incomparable Eartha Kitt:
Think of all the fun I’ve missed,
Think of all the fellas that I haven’t kissed,
Next year I could be just as good,
If you’ll check off my Christmas list
Scandi chic: the new Parisienne?
Dear Parisiennes: I get it now. Truly, I do. I apologize for my ridiculous behavior. We caught on a while ago to the fact that there is no single “Parisienne” style of dressing and that this French Voguette/Jane Birkin hybrid beast only exists in books and blogs and magazines, but it was still a fun idea to play with. All those breton shirts, all that je ne sais pas (typo, but I’m keeping it), and let’s not forget that effortlessness, right girls? So much effortlessness, massive amounts of effortlessness, it was borderline exhausting! Don’t worry though, you will be happy to know that there seems to be a completely new mythological girl to emulate.
My (passive-agressive) A/W wardrobe staples
I don’t know about you, but there are few things that annoy me more than seeing fashion bloggers post outfit photos in heels and bare legs in winter. I scoff and roll my eyes and my inner monologue goes something like “bitch, we all know it took you 20 minutes to remove your goosebumps in Photoshop”. We need to cover up and battle the elements, not get frostbites and pneumonia. So, in the spirit of my passive-aggressive inner monologue, I give you my personal A/W wardrobe staples.
My Skincare Routine for dry and sensitive skin
I recently realized that I have never done a post about my skincare routine before. This is not really all that strange considering I have never been much into skincare in the past: I had a few products that did the trick – eye makeup remover, cleanser and moisturizer – and never really saw any point in advancing my routine any further. However, around this time last year I started using a brand new (for me) skin care range, and I also discovered a few other products that worked really well for me. I have noticed a massive difference skin, and now that I have used the same products regularly for nearly 12 months I thought it would be time to share!
A small disclaimer at first: What works for me might not necessarily work for you. My skin is very dry and sensitive, so someone with oily or combination skin will probably have different needs than mine.
