If you are reading this it means you have found your way over to my new website. Thank you so much for stopping by, I sincerely hope you will find yourself at home here. Things are not 100% ready yet, but I couldn´t help but want to move on January 1st – New year, new website, new opportunities. I thought it would be nice to kick off the new year with a little summary of the old one, so here is a retrospect of my 2011.
January started with cold and snow, a perfect winter wonderland. I was sick for most of the month, so it was a very slow-paced start of the new year, but I eventually found my footing again.
In February I spontaneously visited Maria of Lost in a Spotless Mind. I needed a change of scenery, and a weekend of movies, vintage shopping, cakes and general girlyness with her and her sister Cookie did just the trick.
In March I photographed Pete Doherty, got a visit from my sister, and welcomed the arrival of spring.
In April a friend took me to a dog show, and I suppressed my allergies in order to admire the spectacle and the wonderful dogs and puppies…
I also went home to visit my family for a wonderfully quiet Easter weekend.
In May we got dressed up for the Norwegian national day, I read a lot of magazines, and we enjoyed the fact that summer had finally arrived in Bergen.
In June we took more walks, and got sunburned to boot. I watched a lot of Audrey Hepburn movies, fell head over heels for a bag, and bought a Kindle. I suspect I might have spent the rest of the month reading books.
In July I documented my boyfriend´s weight loss, paid close attention to my new pigeon neighbors, and visited Maria in Oslo once again. On July 22nd, only a week after I left Oslo, the city was struck by a terrorist attack.
In August Marius and I traveled to Paris to celebrate our 10 year anniversary as a couple. We had such a great time, and it really left me in a more or less permanent state of wanderlust. I can´t wait to see where we end up next.
When we returned from Paris we traveled home to visit both our families and to enjoy the last gray days of summer.
Then came September. I got to visit my dad´s workplace: an oil platform way out into the Norwegian Sea. On my way home I stopped by Molde to visit my mom again, and we picked the last bouquet of flowers for the year.
October started with an indian summer. and the days were warmer and nicer than they had been during most of the actual summer months. Maria came to visit later in the month, and she let loose her fashion consultant skills on my poor unsuspecting closet.
In November the highlight was when my family came to visit for a belated birthday celebration of both me and my dad. There was good food, good company, and even a bit of touristy sightseeing.
And then, last but not least, there´s December. In December we went for a short trip to Oslo and enjoyed a few short days where the snow turned Bergen into Christmas Town. My Christmas Eve was spent at home with my family, and we had a wonderful time.
I hope your 2011 has been as good (if not better) as mine has been. Of course there have a few bumps in the road along the way, but all in all it has left me with a clear feeling of things moving forward. I am going to do my absolute best to bring that feeling with me all the way into 2012.

Godt nyttår, Maja! Gøy med ny nettside!
Tusen takk Ulrikke, og godt nytt år! :)
Godt Nyttår, Maja og gratulerer med ny nettside :)
Takker, bukker og neier Mona <3
Oh, Maja! I love your new blog so much I’ll have to bake a cake in its honour or something. Your personal touch is still here, but it looks more professional, almost more (dare I say it?) grown-up. Very well done, my dear <3
Thank you Maria my dear, I love it too. It feels clean and fresh – like the old blog, but better. I will move some more elements over from the old blog eventually. I do love the ink splatter :)
Oooh…Nice place you have here! LOVE what you did with it!! ^o^ It has a very refreshing feel to it…and that’s not just because it’s new, if you know what I’m saying :D Miss the inky-ness though!
Your recap of 2011 is gorgeous! I’m curious about the top-left photo for December though…what is it? :) My year was pretty bland in comparison. It was pretty much a routine of studying, blogging…and much exam-taking ;P
Thank you so much queenie! (Yes, you´re queenie now. It has been decided.) There will be more ink eventually, I just haven´t gotten around to it yet. In fact, I need to buy more ink :)
I guess 2011 was eventful, but I still feel a bit boring – there is a lot of Internet-fiddling, Internet-fiddling, and, you know.. more Internet-fiddling. Don´t get me wrong, I love Internet-fiddling, but I´d like it to be fiddling with a purpose. Wow, that sounds so dirty.
Spennende, spennende!!
Det syne jeg også! :)
it must be so uplifting to do a post like this… and see what you’ve experienced and achieve over the year. Sometimes we get too caught up on our shortcomings and forget that it wasn’t all that bad. Your post is a brilliant reminder of that.
Happy new year!
Thank you for the nice comment Lin – it really wasn’t a bad year at all, and I think 2012 will be even better :)
Happy new year!
Slit an med ny side :-)
