My weekend in Instagrams

I was supposed to make another post for you before the weekend, but then stuff happened and suddenly it was Monday and here we are. I even left my DSLR at work on Friday, which makes this a Full Blogger Crisis™! The solution? My newly borrowed iPhone 4S and Instagram – I´m maja_piraja if you´d like to follow me. Here´s a little rundown of my weekend photos, left to right:

1. The mandatory self portrait. This is Instagram, after all!

2. My friend Maren´s poodle, Fie. She gives me poodle-cravings.

3. My birthday present from Marius finally arrived – brownie points if you can tell what it is!

4. Marius and I went out for tapas, and boy was it lovely. I´m such a sucker for tapas.

5. On Friday we went to Oslo to visit some relatives. It was absolutely freezing – between 0 degrees and -10 degrees at all times. We had a great time, and I met some wonderful people.

6. This sign outside a store reads “We have butter” – why the need to put this message on a sign, you may ask? Well, a combination of the current low carb fad and extreme baking of Christmas cookies has resulted in a nation-wide butter shortage in Norway. I wish I was joking. Some people have even been caught smuggling huge amounts of butter into the country, seeling it on online auctions!

7. I couldn´t go to Oslo without meeting up with Maria of lost in a spotless mind. We sat and chatted over hot chocolate for a little while, and I made a mental note to go back to visit as soon as possible.

8. The aforementioned hot chocolate.

9. Another Oslo must is vintage shopping, and I found this teal cashmere jumper at Velouria Vintage. It is so soft, like wearing a kitten. I´m turning into the biggest sweater snob :)

And that is it! I always love going to Oslo – it has a reputation of being a gray and dreary city, but I´m a fan. Did you do anything fun this weekend?

  1. Regarding the b-day present: Is that the Alexander Wang “Kirsten” satchel??? :D

Butter-shortage O_O And…a butter black market?? That’s just so weirdly surreal ;P (You know…when I saw the sign, I thought it was about s’mores…Yeah, I would totally suck as a linguist ;)

Btw, that bowl of hot chocolate looks absolutely divine ^_^ What did you sprinkle on top? (Plus, I find it interesting that you put it in a bowl, instead of the conventional mug… ;)

    • Butter black market, that´s it! It is completely nuts, and when the stores do get butter people are hoarding it like they´re getting ready for armageddon.

The hot chocolate was from a café, and I was a bit puzzled by the use of a bowl as well, but it worked! It also really amped up the cozy-factor, which is never a bad thing. The sprinkles were chocolate shavings (?), I believe :)

      Oh and.. brownie point ;)

  2. Looks so good! I love instagram :-)

    • Thank you Camilla! I´m not a huge fan of the iPhone, but I love Instagram :)

  3. Det ser ut som om du har hatt en fin helg, jeg liker Instagrammer! :)

    • Det var definitivt en veldig fin helg, og Instagram er en skikkelig lifesaver :)

  4. ooh i love instagram! pity i’m one of the few people who still doesn’t have an iphone. your photos are so lovely, and happy belated bday! the a.wang bag looks pretty adorable in his signature edgy way ;)

    • I’m lucky enough to be able to borrow pretty much any phone through my job, so it is not really mine – I’m way too much of an Android fangirl to ever buy an iPhone for myself. But I do love Instagram, so I will be the giant nerd with two phones until the day Instagram is released for Android phones ;)

  5. annnnd i can’t help but think of the tins upon tins of butter cookies at the local convenience stores here in the US from my childhood. butter black market has got to be one of the most endearing kinds of black markets out there!

    • Haha! I suppose the butter black market is endearing, if it wasn’t such an embarrassing pinnacle of First World Problems. I mean – recession, unemployment, war? Nah, our biggest concern this winter is the lack of butter because everyone and their grandma is on Atkins. It is so completely ridiculous. Norway in a nutshell, I suppose ;)

  6. Gah! I didn’t comment! oops?

I love the instagram layout and I’m not hiding my amusement at the butter shortage. Butter Black Market *snort*. Maybe I’m just feeling slightly superior with the three bricks of butter in my freezer.

Kudos for getting that “Tim Burton” bag! Oh how I love that cinematic genius.

I’m considering putting my next hot chocolate in a bowl, it’s making me think of when you’re little and you drink your soup right from the bowl. Which I definitely do not do anymore… in restaurants… often?

    • I think you might be onto something with the soup thing, because now I am getting flashbacks to my own childhood!

Marius scored a pack of butter from the supermarket the other day – he looked so proud ;)

  7. Your cashmere sweater is such a find! <3 You look gorgeous!

  9. I actually read about the butter crisis in the news, because of those people who were arrested for trying to smuggle 250kg of butter to sell in Norway! Your pictures look wonderful and put me in the mood for the holidays. Happy belated birthday and I hope you have a great Christmas!

    • Thank you so much Lin, and merry Christmas to you too! :)

  10. Cute photos and belated birthday!
