This is something I haven’t done in a while – a giveaway!

Summer is upon us and reading blogs starts to drop further and further down on people’s priorities, so I thought I would do this before everyone goes out on their summer adventures. The things is, you’ve all been so lovely lately. You visit, you leave comments, you stop by my Instagram, and once in a while I even get an e-mail. I really appreciate it, and you are all so very sweet to me, so I thought it was time for me to give something back.

Shopaholics I met and liked Smash Candy IsaDora Peacock Essie Ballet Slippers

This is what I am giving away: A “Shopaholics I met and liked” notebook, my favorite candy in the world, a bottle of IsaDora “Peacock” nail polish and a bottle of Essie “Ballet Slippers” nail polish. The boys among you will just have to forgive me, there are just too few of you to justify a more gender neutral variety of items. You are more than welcome to enter though, I don’t discriminate ;)

To enter my giveaway I want you to leave me a comment where you tell me the following:

1. Your name. Just the first name is fine!

2. An interesting fact about you, because I want to get to know you guys better.

3. Some constructive feedback concerning Which posts do you like the best? Is there something you would like me to write about more often? Something you would like me to start writing about? Something you wish I would photograph? Anything! I would love to hear your thoughts.

That’s it. The giveaway is open to anyone, regardless of whether you live in Oslo or Barcelona or Singapore. The winner will be picked randomly, and the giveaway will be open for entires until the 15th of June. Remember to fill in the e-mail field when you leave your comment, so that I know how to reach you if you win :)

    1. My name is Egwene, handpicked myself!
    2. My favorite alien species is the Daleks from Doctor Who.
    3. I love the monthly purchases posts, and the posts on minimizing shopping! Oh, and all the polyvore posts. These are my absolutely favorites. But I also appreciated the posts about depression, it is nice to see that there are more people out there with it and lessening the taboo associated with it.

    • Maja says:

Thanks Egwene! I have yet to get into Dr. Who – I have watched two episodes and a Christmas Special, which hardly qualifies me as a fan. I haven’t given up yet, though, there’s just so much else to watch!

I will make a note about the shopping posts. I have to be honest with you, I haven’t really felt like I could justify posts on sensible shopping lately seeing as I have been shopping A LOT. I will give it a go though, I think I’ve got some ideas!

  2. Bonnie says:

    1. My name is Bonnie.
    2. I am almost 30% on my way to becoming a doctor (yay for five year long uni degrees!).
    3. I love pretty much all of your posts, but I especially like ones where you write a lot, as they fill in more of my day. Your posts about depression meant a lot to me, as I am dealing with some major issues at the moment and it really helps to read about someone who has been through similar things but is still so realistic and optimistic :)

    • Maja says:

Hi there Bonnie, thank you for leaving a comment! High five for being on your way to becoming a doctor, that is really cool! I am glad to hear people don’t mind my lengthy posts, as I really do love to write. And it is good to hear that my posts on depression were helpful to you, that means a lot. Good luck, you can totally get through it :)

    2. I was named after Jamie-Lee Curtis.. my dad thought she was extremely hot in the movie Perfect, and while my mum was lying in the hospital bed cradling me and calling me Nikki, he was getting me registered as Jamie-Lee. You can imagine the look of shock on my mum’s face when he broke the news to her!
    3. I really enjoy your blog – I’ve especially liked your recent dye DIY post, and I love your monthly purchase round ups :)

    • Maja says:

Hahahaha, I love your story Jamie-Lee! My dad sort of hijacked my name is well, but my story isn’t nearly as good as yours. That is hilarious!

I’m glad people like my monthly purchase roundups – I sometimes worry that they are a bit too navel-gazing, and I feel absolutely terrible when I stray completely from my minimal consumption ideals, haha!

  4. Kaori says:

    1. Kaori
    2. I LOVE buying makeup although I don’t use makeup everyday :P (only during special occasions)
    3. I love your monthly purchases posts because they’re bite-sized product reviews rolled into one post! :D I also love how gorgeous your photographs are!!! Maybe you can share with us how you configure your camera and how you take photos? :)

    Thanks for the giveaway! ;)

    • Maja says:

Thank you for the lovely comment Kaori! As I said to Jamie-Lee, I am really happy to hear that you like my monthly purchase roundups. My shopping has gone a bit haywire over the last few months, but if you guys are enjoying the posts then I suppose that makes it a little better ;)

I honestly don’t have a specific camera setup that I use, as I always shoot raw files in manual mode that I later edit in Adobe Photoshop. The best advice I can give is to become familiar with the manual mode on your camera through trial and error, and maybe buy/borrow one of those beginner’s DSLR photography books – they can be really really helpful :)

  5. Ida Sundae says:

    1. My name is Ida.
    2. I had to go to the other side of the world to find my dream man. It all happened very unexpectedly because a) I had been single for 3 years, b) I had told myself before I went on this trip to NOT hook up with anyone, and c) what are the chances of meeting someone you really really like and later move to Paris for on the other side of the earth??
    3. I basically love all your blog post, and you should know that as I’m a bit lazy with commenting. F.ex. I loved your post about wordpress plugins, I love all geeky things like that. I also like your monthly purchases posts + outfit posts, cos you always look so classy and it seems to me like you’re very concious about what you buy and wear. It’s inspiring you know. The makeup posts are nice as that’s something I don’t really know much about. You should also get credit for opening up your inner self, it must be scary. You’re brave. So: more pics of outfits + your life, more texts about style and makeup and stuff I know nothing about, more geeky things, I would love it if you could write more about textiles and how you pick garments, and where you buy them. Any shops you avoid? What’s your favourite shop? Any fabrics you don’t buy or won’t wear? Would also like to read about photography so if it’s something you have knowledge about you should share! ;)

    • Maja says:

Thanks for the feedback Ida – I actually had no idea you were a faithful reader of my blog, that is so cool! Your comment inspired me to write a post about my shopping habits, so I will definitely whip that one up for you in the near future :)

You are also the second person to mention photography, so I guess I will have to think about that one as well, even though I really don’t have any set photography rules that I follow. I really just learned from trial and error :)

  6. Kirsten says:

    1. My name is Kirsten
    2. I’m considering moving to Norway to work with gender intelligence in HR, I just need to find a job in Norway first.
    3. I’ve only just recently found your blog through Lost in a spotless mind and I really enjoy the blogposts about shopping less and generally decluttering and the blogposts about what you are packing for holidays, what’s in your bag etc.

    • Maja says:

Hi there Kirsten, and thank you for leaving a comment! There will be a packing post in the near future, as I am leaving for the states in just a few weeks now. I have basically been planning that suitcase since February, which is slightly embarrassing and maybe a bit sad ;)

  7. Marte P. S. says:

Hei!
I alle fall for meg, for eg bur her ;) Ellers smeltar eg kvar gong du legge ut bilete av den fiiine hunden din!

    • Maja says:

Hei Marte!

  8. Jason says:

I love reading blogs and yours popped out recently.

A bit more colour would make the blog better.

    • Maja says:

Thanks for the feedback Jason! The idea is that the photos and illustrations will provide the color, but I will keep that in mind :)

  9. Stine says:

    1. Hi, I’m Stine. :)
    2. I taught myself the runic alphabet when I was ten years old, so that I could write “secret” messages to my best friend in class. (She was also my only friend, as you may imagine, I was quite the nerd – before it was cool.) Sometimes when I’m at a really boring meeting at work I’ll write down personal stuff in runes so that my colleagues won’t know my mind is elsewhere.
    3. I like everything about your blog (and your Instagram) – HUGE fan, so I’m not sure what to ask for. More outfits, perhaps? More pictures from Bergen? I’m madly in love with anything Norwegian (my boyfriend in particular).

PS: I agree with you: Smash is the BEST thing EVAH.

    • Maja says:

Hi there Stine! That is so cool about the runic alphabet, I don’t know how to recognize a single runic symbol myself. I did have a goal to take more outfit photos, but I am always in a risk in the morning and when I get home from work in the afternoon I am not nearly as daisy fresh as one should be in an outfit photo ;) I will make a note of it though – there are always weekends, after all!

    2. Hmm, I’m a mining engineer and I love rocks.
    3. I discovered you blog about a month ago, and I really like it. I find that you post nice and interesting pictures and I like the general layout. I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is about your writing that I like, but I must say I think the way you write is great!

    • Maja says:

Hi Siv, and thanks for the comment! I’m very happy to hear that you like my blog, and it is always fun to hear from a new reader!

    2. My hobbies and interesting keep me from getting down when everything is going wrong or going no where at all.
    3. I would like it if you did an art tutorial. I like your drawings.

    • Maja says:

Thanks for the comment Melody! How fun that someone mentioned my drawings – I haven’t done any in a while after all and I thought that maybe everyone had forgotten all about them :)

  13. Esha S. says:

    1. My name is Esha. Well .. my first name is actually Crystal, but I like my middle name so much more! It’s Sanskrit for ‘Purity’

    2. I am a student of naturopathic medicine.

    3. I always look forward to reading your blog posts because you are so real. I especially enjoy your posts about minimizing would be great if you did more posts on how you organize things in your daily life (makeup, clothes, etc.). Thats just wishful thinking though, all your posts are great! Thank you for being so entertaining!!

    • Maja says:

Oooh, and organization post, that could be fun! Thank you for the idea, Esha, I will make a draft of it right now so that I won’t forget to write it :)

I can’t wait to tell my mom that I am giving organization tips to people on the internet, as I used to be the biggest slob growing up ;)

  14. Drifterqueen says:

    1. Elizabeth (It got really old how people would immediately address me as “Your Majesty” until I wised up and decided that royalty is awesome. Hence my Internet handle :)
    2. I just finished my final year exams! This morning! To celebrate, I decided to dip into the blogosphere again.
    3. I haven’t been the most diligent of commenters lately…but that is not due to any lack in this blog’s quality :) Majahuse is my favorite blog and has been ever since I discovered it years ago. I love the monthly purchases roundup as well as the posts about mindful shopping, so more of those would be good :) The biggest draw is the writing…the best way I can describe it is fashion editor on crack (in a good way) with a big dose of everyday sparkly magic (the best kind ;) And the photos here are always fantastic!

    • Maja says:

Oh my, Drifterqueen is back! Hooray! Welcome back the the blogosphere, Miss Drifter! I have missed your comments, I actually stopped by your blog last week to see if there was any life there. So happy to see you pop up again, congratulations on finishing your exams :D

Also, can I put “fashion editor on crack” on my CV? Seriously, hit me up on LinkedIn and write that as a recommendation, I will send you as much Smash as I can carry ;D

  15. Shelby says:

    1. My name is Shelby
    2. In the midst of horrible depression, I taught myself to juggle and it helped so much.
    3. I love your posts on depression: they’re so honest and relatable. I love your posts about de-cluttering and being conscious about shopping. Those have been incredibly helpful to me as I’ve been trying to do the same. Your product reviews and purchase round-ups are also amazing, and I love seeing those on the blog! :)

    • Maja says:

Hi there Shelby, and thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment! I am so happy to hear that that people liked my posts on depression, truly. It is really good to know that they meant something to someone :)

  16. Hilde says:

    1. My name is Hilde
    2. I’m able to write with my freakishly long toes (quite nicely too, I might add).
    3. I really like the girly stuff about makeup, but most of all I appreciate your posts about depression. I love your openness and how you manage to describe something so difficult in such an understandable way.

    • Maja says:

Aw, my toes aren’t nearly as talented as yours! I can pick things up with them, but that is basically it. Or, wait, I can sort of “snap” with my toes (like you would with your fingers, only not with as much sound obviously), but that might be normal? I need to ask people if they can snap their toes!

  17. Maja says:

I will randomly pick the winner tomorrow :)

  18. JuJu Zitroni says:

damnit!! i saw the post the first day but hadn’t time to post and then i completly forgot!

you have already read some facts about me on my blog (what made me happy :>) and i like your blog the way it is. i do prefer the normal boring layout where you just scroll down through all the posts, but your new one is fine too. ^^

my favorite posts are anything clothes relatet as i like your style and thoughts about consuming. and you monthy purchase roundups. and make up stuff. and random photo posts. very helpful, i guess xD

    • Maja says:

Aw, Juju, you were a day late, sorry! Hahaha, no, your comment IS helpful! To know that you like how things are means I don’t have to make any major changes, and that is good to know! I have gotten so many good ideas from this giveaway, I love it :)
