Filofoxy

If you’re a long-time reader of my blog, you might remember that I’m a huge fan my leather planner. I know that people tend to think of me as terribly old fashioned when I tell them that I use a Filofax-style planner, but honestly, I could not get through the day without mine. Don’t get me wrong here – I have a smart phone and store my work schedules and appointments in its calendar, but for the rest of the things I need to remember, I use my planner. There’s just something special about getting to write by hand and doodle in the margins, write lists and cross things out. If I don’t write things down, I forget about them! Now, I recently gave my planner’s content a makeover, and I thought you might like to see the results. First, let’s get the formalities out of the way:

Planner: Grieg leather planner, pocket sized.

Inserts: Filofax.co.uk + self made + Aplan.

Plastic envelopes: Filofax.co.uk

Images: A mix of my own and images I have found on the Internet. Most of them can be found on my weheartit.

So, this is where we start. A textured leather planner (gift from Marius) and an angel charm given to me by my little sister.

When you open it, you can find my “business” cards, each with a different photo taken by me on the back. To the right there’s a flow chart – pretty much the best flow chart ever, if you ask me!

Then there’s the mandatory stuff: The diary inserts. I prefer one page for each day – lots of space to doodle on.

Blank pages for even more doodles…

Now these I really like – in primary school everyone had these hardcover diaries who, among other things, had pages where your friends could fill out information about themselves. Their name, their favorite color, dream boyfriend and so on. Well, I made my own friend pages, printed them out, and punched holes in them. People seem to love filling these out.

Friend page bonus: Download the Norwegian version here or the English version here (pdf files). Print it, fill it out, scan it, and send it back to me! Seriously – if any of you would like to do this it would make my day. Write whatever you feel like, as long as you write it by hand!

Moving on – I love to-do lists…

And pretty pictures…

And of course a good old motivational poster to remind me to be a bit more ballsy :)

Doesn’t this look ten times better than a standard planner, or even a calendar on a smart phone? I always keep it in my bag or on my desk at work, just because I like to look at it and to scribble down notes in it. I’d be lost without it.

  1. Hah, pent arbeid :)

  2. Oh boy oh boy oh boy….

  3. It’s fantastic! I realize my own “filofax” is slightly malnourished compared to yours – I feel mini mood boards might be in order! We’re working on those friend pages, by the way. Deciding on a I-wish-he-was-my-boyfriend requires some serious thinkin’.

    • Hey, you definitively have the prettiest planner on your side of the mountains ;) Mood boards sounds excellent!

Oh and I can’t wait to receive your friend pages, but no rush! :)

  4. Oooh.

Printprintprint :D

  5. Ooooh!

  6. It looks gorgeous! Perhaps not a terrible idea to start thinking about making something similar myself… I have a love/hate relationship with the simple dayplanner I have.. no, I think it might be a boring and monotone relationship actually. Need something like this!

    • Planning/organization fanatic that I am I could not go a day without my planner. Plus, there is something wonderful about keeping things on paper, you know? Not just notes and appointments, but cute post-its and mementos and photos as well :)
